Hundreds of people anxiously wait Saturday as the Santa Train pulls into Elkhorn City during its 68th annual running. The train, sponsored by CSX, the Kingsport Chamber of Commerce, Food City and Kids Wish Network, is a holiday tradition for many of those that come out to get their first glimpse of Santa Claus. The train runs each year the Saturday before Thanksgiving.
As the first light of the day slowly changes the sky from black to blue, the brave souls that give up the chance to sleep in on Saturday morning are alerted by the distant sound of a train horn. Their sleepy eyes become wide and youthful as they look at their children to say, Here it comes ...
