The Tin Roof 2nd Annual Mustache Bash will be held on Tuesday Nov 30. The Tin Roof restaurant staff and all who would like to participate will be growing mustaches the whole month of November. For a donation of $3 at the door, you will get a Kentucky Ale Mustache Mug and every girl will receive a pink mustache.
It will be a great evening of fun with a DJ, Best Mustache contest, and drink specials. Everyone is encouraged to dress up as your favorite celebrity with a mustache.
All proceeds benefit the Markey Cancer Foundation for prostate cancer research.
The University of Kentucky Police Department has been working to raise breast cancer awareness this month through its "Pink Hat" campaign.
The police have been joined in their efforts by a $5,000 donation to the Markey Cancer Foundation from local public safety equipment and apparel company Galls, a division of ARAMARK. Galls is one of the largest suppliers of uniforms and equipment to the folice, fire and military market.
All 120 employees of the UKPD have been wearing pink and black hats in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, to raise awareness about breast cancer and the importance of research for finding a cure. The hats were donated by 5.11 Tactical of Modesto, Calif., one of the world's largest manufacturers of uniforms and equipment for police, fire and military.
Representatives from the UK Police Department and Galls came to the Markey Cancer Center to present the donation, which was accepted by Dr. Randall G. Rowland, president and CEO of the Markey Cancer Foundation and Dr. Mark Evers, director of the Markey Cancer Center.
Local Hyundai dealers and representatives from Hyundai Motor America today presented a Hope Grant in the amount of $100,000 to Markey Cancer Foundation to support childhood cancer research or programs dedicated to improving the lives of children with cancer. Childhood cancer survivors and their families joined doctors, administrators and staff from the University of Kentucky Markey Cancer Center and the Division of Pediatric Oncology to receive the award.
