National Adoption Month
November is National Adoption Month. The Abba Ministries has brochures on the Welcome Center to learn more about orphan care and how you can be involved. Not everyone is called to adopt, but we are ALL called to love orphans because Christ first loved us. Please prayerfully consider how you can support and love orphans and those who are called to adopt or foster. ~ Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world. James 1:27

Winsome Widows will be meeting Saturday, November 13th at 10:00 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall to make birthday bags for Regency Manor. Lunch at a local restaurant will follow.

Operation Christmas Child
Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes are due by to the church on or before next Sunday, November 14th. You can drop them off at either Welcome Center or in Diane or Debbies offices.

Thanksgiving Office Hours
There will be no Wednesday night activities for the church on November 24th due to the area schools being dismissed for the Thanksgiving Holidays. Please take this time to enjoy being with your family and friends for the holiday. The entire church campus will also be closed on Thursday, November 25th and Friday the 26th for the Thanksgiving Holidays.

The Hickory Grove Church Wide Christmas Celebration will be held on Sunday, December 12th. We will begin the evening at 6:00 p.m. with our choir presenting the cantata, The Glory of Christmas, Experience the Season. A free holiday dinner will follow in the Family Life Center. The dinner is free, but we do need you to pick up a ticket so we can keep an accurate count for the caterer. You can pick those up in church offices during the week or at the Welcome Center on Sundays. Tickets will be available Sunday, November 14th through Wednesday, December 8th. Since the dinner is free, we are lovingly asking that you give a donation to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering in lieu of the price of dinner. Boxes will be setting on each table during dinner for your donations. If you do not plan on attending the dinner, but still want to give to the Lottie Moon Offering, envelopes will be available in the pews beginning Sunday, December 5th. You can place your envelopes in the offering plates each Sunday in December.

The Filling Station is a weekly opportunity for parents and grandparents to get refueled while their kids go "Beyond" or take the "Plunge" on Wednesday nights. So while your kids experience great fun and Bible study, join us for the Filling Station each Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. or at 7:45 p.m., two choices to fit your Wed. night schedule!

Interested in Life Groups, but a little unsure about commitment? Here's an opportunity for you to come to a trial Life Group and experience one before actually becoming a part of one. Thursday evening, beginning October 28th, from 6:45 p.m. till 8:30 p.m., we will meet at the home of Eileen Caldwell, 802 Stevie's Trail, Independence. Feel free to come and enjoy a Life Group experience with us! There will be fellowship, snacks, and a discussion/study time with no commitment necessary - come one or as many times as you like. We look forward to spending time with you. If you have questions, please call Shelley Robinson, 441-7772.

The Helping Hands Ministry is organizing an invitation only Christmas Giveaway on December 4th. They are working closely with the DCBS department and the Kenton County Resource Centers to select families in our area who need assistance. A Christmas tree will be in the vestibule next Sunday with gift tags on it. The tags are to assist you in purchasing one gift for a child who will be attending the giveaway. Please pick up a tag and purchase the item listed, wrap the items and bring it back to church before Wednesday, December 1st. Volunteers will also be needed on Friday, December 3rd and Saturday, December 4th to make the event run smoothly. A signup sheet and more details on how you can help will be available next week.

We will be having a Fall Festival for the entire church and community on Saturday, November 6th from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon. There will be inflatables, a petting zoo, corn hole, and weather permitting, a hayride. Please bring your family, friends and neighbors for a morning of fun. We will finish the morning off with a chili lunch around 11:30 a.m. Signup sheets can be found at the Welcome Center or in The Deep. We want your shoes!
Between now and Sunday, December 5th we want you to bring your old, worn out shoes to church.yes, that is really what we want. There will be receptacles at both Welcome Centers ready to take your shoes that are on their way to the garbage. Once they are all collected, Linda Netherly will be turning them over to a mission who cleans up the shoes, gives away the ones that are still in decent shape to third world countries, and then takes the rubber bottoms from the shoes that are too far gone and chops it up for playground mulch. We will take any shoes!!! If you have any further questions, please contact Linda Netherly.

The Best Question Ever
Does decision making leave you paralyzed, often unable to move forward? PREPARE YOURSELF! You are about to be introduced to a single question that will revolutionize the way you make decisions. The Best Question Ever is a new Sunday morning bible study offered at 9:30 am beginning September 12. This is a 6-week, DVD-based study. All you need to do is show up, bring your bible and be open to new ways of thinking about the decisions you face. The class will meet in Fellowship Hall room 114.

School is back in session and it's time for you to gain some new knowledge too! If weight loss hasn't been motivation enough, what about the previention of heart disease, cancer, stroke, and diabetes? All through the month of August, Equipped Ministries will be discussing foods and their healing properties! God knew what He was doing when he created all the wonderful foods we have. Come, learne and be inspired to change your eating habits forever.

Equipped meets every Tuesday from 5:30-6:00 p.m. in the conference room. Your first meeting is ALWAYS FREE. Call Julie for more details or check out our website here.
