What is a REO? An REO is "Real Estate Owner" by the bank, mortgage company, asset manager company - somebody other than a "normal" John Doe seller. It means two things. First, the home was probably a foreclosure or similiar legal action. Which means the house could be a great deal because that agency wants to sell it, not just list it. Second, you need a REO Agent to handle the deal. The REO buying process is very different from the regular process. The REO Agent understands what the bank is looking for and can arrange the process quickly.
