Marcum & Wallace Memorials Parent Health System, CHP, Receives National Designation
IRVINE, Ky. (August 14, 2009) Catholic Health Partners, the health system of which Marcum & Wallace Memorial is a member, has been ranked as one of the Top 10 Health Systems in the United States by Thomson Reuters in an unprecedented study released this week. CHP is the only health system in Kentucky to receive this honor.
CHP is ranked as a Top 10 system based on clinical outcomes by Marcum & Wallace and its other member hospitals as publicly reported in the 2006 and 2007 Medicare Provider Analysis and Review data and the CMS Hospital Compare data. The five metrics evaluated were: mortality, medical complications, patient safety, average length of stay, and adherence to clinical standards of care.
This national recognition demonstrates that quality healthcare is the number one priority at Lourdes and in the CHP system, said Susie Starling, CEO of Marcum & Wallace Memorial. Families can trust that they will receive the highest quality healthcare combined with the most compassionate care.
I applaud our doctors, nurses, and support staff for committing themselves to quality outcomes for our patients. This study illustrates that they have skills that lead the nation, and we are very blessed that they choose to call our area home. Their dedication has helped put the whole CHP system into the Top 10, Starling added.
Michael Connelly, president and CEO of Catholic Healthcare Partners, said this is an important milestone in reaching CHPs goal of excellence in healthcare. "We are proud to be recognized for our quality of care and efficiency. The results of this study affirm our system-wide approach to quality care, and are also a testament to the hard work, determination and the local healing touch that only our front-line caregivers can offer all who come through our doors.
